Project:Dispute resolution
Welcome to the Dispute resolution page. This page outlines processes and resources for resolving conflicts and disagreements within the wiki community.
Purpose
Disputes are a natural part of collaborative editing. The goal of dispute resolution is to address disagreements constructively and to maintain a positive, productive environment.
Steps for Resolving Disputes
- Talk to the other party
- Attempt to resolve issues directly and politely by discussing on article talk pages or user talk pages.
- Seek a third opinion
- If direct discussion does not resolve the issue, invite another experienced editor or administrator for a neutral perspective.
- Request community input
- Raise the issue on relevant noticeboards, such as Project:Administrators or the village pump, to gather wider input.
- Formal mediation
- For complex or persistent disputes, request formal mediation. An administrator or community-appointed mediator will help facilitate the discussion.
- Review and appeal
- If you disagree with an administrative action, you may request review by another administrator or escalate to bureaucrats.
Guidelines
- Assume good faith in all interactions.
- Be civil and avoid personal attacks.
- Focus discussions on content and policies, not on individuals.
- Document the dispute and resolution process if needed, for transparency.
